I can’t believe we’re already in the sixth month of the year.
WHERE DID THE TIME GO?
Actually, I can answer that question, for myself, at least. I’ve been EDITING. Non-stop. Seriously, between re-edits for the 2nd edition of Prince of the Fallen, early edits for The Crane Maiden, and the final few rounds of edits for A Silent Song in Winter, I’ve lost ALL track of time! Now, somehow, lilacs and irises are blooming in my neck of the woods, and the outdoors are calling me!
Luckily, my personal editing projects are done for a full month while my beta team tackles The Crane Maiden, which means I get to return to writing the next book in my Queue of Perpetual Projects. Haha, it never ends. But that’s okay, because I genuinely love what I do! I’ve wanted nothing more than to tell stories for as long as I can remember.
June signifies a lot of fun things for me. Among them, camping and hiking! It will look different this year due to my health struggles, but I still want to be up in the mountains as often as possible!
Here are a few other things happening this month and beyond:
My Upcoming Book Launch
This June also means a new book launch! A Silent Song in Winter (Dragons of Rokahn Book 2) has been a special challenge to polish, since I edited it the first few times through a bad bout of pneumonia. Luckily, my early reader team and excellent editor stepped up and helped me see the glaring problems. Hopefully they’ve all been squashed, but only readers can tell me with their reviews!
Last week, I did hear from one of my early (ARC) reviewers as she was reading her advance copy, and she had this to say:
Needless to say, I’m DELIGHTED by her reaction (she gave me permission to share this exchange). She’s since finished the book and told me she loved it to the very end. I’m so, so happy!
I sincerely hope other readers enjoy the story as much! But you may want snacks on hand. *wink*
You’ll be hearing from me again on Launch Day, June 16th, as I celebrate with character art, yummy cake, and possibly prizes! I never miss the opportunity to celebrate hard work, and book launches top that list for me!
If you haven’t started this series yet, now’s a great time to read When Darkness Hunts the Dawn in preparation for Book 2! (It’s even on Kindle Unlimited.)
I’m also going to be kicking off my in-person warm season book signings shortly!
My current book event line-up:
Mystic Realms Fantasy Fair in Pocatello, Idaho on June 27th-29th.
Atomic Days in Arco, Idaho on July 18th and 19th.
Central Idaho Ren Fair in Hailey, Idaho on September 12th-13th
FanX in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 25th-27th
What’s extra cool is that author Robert Zangari (and in some cases co-author Dan Zangari) will also be at these events with me. If you LOVE classic fantasy and haven’t read their epic Tales of the Amulet series, check out The Prince’s Errand!
Some Exciting News!
I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ve been chosen as the newest member of the admin team at Indie Fantasy Addicts—my favorite Facebook group—which has over 10k members!
It’s a reader-focused group where independent authors of fantasy (all sub-genres) and indie fantasy readers can connect, read and review books, and otherwise celebrate the wonderful world of indie fantasy!
I’ve been an active part of IFA for over three years, soaking in the community vibes, championing my favorite reads, and participating in the annual Summer Reading Challenge. It’s my favorite place to hang out as a reader and author alike. The admin team is awesome, keeping spammy self-promo and real world politics out of our space, while offering fun events and highlighting talented authors both old and new. I’ve volunteered in the past as event team captain, participated in panels, and otherwise helped wherever possible because I love it so much.
Now, I’ve been accepted as a member of the admin team—and that’s a HUGE honor to me. When the position of video editor came open, I applied without any expectations—and got the position!! (It’s not a paid gig, mind you. Purely voluntary!)
The official announcement was made in May, just in time to gear up for the Summer Reading Challenge in June!! (If you love fun reading challenges and bookish prizes, consider checking it out!)
That’s it for now. Thanks for sticking around, and especially for reading my books! I’m so grateful for each one of you!
Stay magical,
M. H. Woodscourt
Well girl you will be happy to know I finished A Silent Song in Winter and my review is out on Goodreads. I LOVED every second of it! Can’t wait for book three!
